Elbow Problems

Pain in the area of the elbow can have a variety of causes.  Common conditions that affect the area of the elbow are:

  • Arthritis – rheumatoid or osteoarthritis
  • Biceps Tendon ruptures – biceps muscle can pull away from its attachment on the front of the elbow
  • Cubital Tunnel Syndrome – compression of the ulnar nerve in the area of the elbow can cause pain or numbness in the forearm and hand
  • Dislocations – falls or blows to the elbow area can cause the bones to dislocate at the elbow joint, causing symptoms similar to a fracture
  • Fractures – pain, swelling or loss of motion around the elbow after a fall or blow
  • Lateral Epicondylitis (“Tennis Elbow”) – pain on the outside of the elbow area, especially with gripping or lifting
  • Medial Epicondylitis (“Golfer’s Elbow”) – pain on the inside of the elbow area, especially with gripping or lifting

Our physicians evaluate and treat elbow problems on a daily basis, and can help determine both the cause and treatment options for your elbow problem.
