About Us

HISTORY

In 1989, Dr. Edwin Vyhmeister opened his practice in North Seattle, as Northwest Hand Specialists with the second hand surgeon in WA.  He was an early pioneer in hand surgery in the area.   The population of the Seattle area was 570,657.   Dr. Vyhmeister has a reputation among health care leaders as one of the very best hand surgeons in the state.    He has a strong, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that ensures the practice stays on the cutting edge.   The physicians who have joined the practice range from highly tenured experts in their fields to younger, knowledgeable physicians who bring new skills and techniques into the organization.  The values of the practice include knowledge, compassion and innovation.  Physicians and staff know that knowledge is the most important expectation our patients and their families have.

Locations in Silver Lake/Everett, Shoreline and Woodinville allow patients to stay closer to home or workplace to minimize travel and wait times.

Dr. Vyhmeister set up the MEND Orthopedics in October 2007 – as a prompt injury care practice, available five days per week.

  1. REDUCED WAIT TIMES FOR PATIENTS.  Slots are left open every day to allow for same day access to surgeons.  Evening hours make it more convenient for patients and their families to stop in
  2. REDUCED COSTS FOR PATIENTS:  Those requiring surgery will usually encounter costs that are 40% lower than if their surgery is performed in a hospital instead of a free-standing Ambulatory Surgery Center.  A team who works together every day to maximize results for the patient.
